Junaid Islam's national security career began as an installer of secure X.25 data networks for counter-narcotics operations in South America and Operation Desert Shield. After the war, Junaid leveraged his front line experience to develop secure communications solutions to support US national security missions. Junaid's technical contributions include MLPP for weapons fire control systems, Mobile IPv6 for Tactical Networks, IPv6 address scrambling for classified networks and most recently Zero Trust Architecture.

Junaid Islam is a leading expert on the topic of state-sponsored cyberattacks. Junaid was an invited speaker at George Washington University on the Russian cyber threat hosted by Congressman Brendan Boyle, Member of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs.  In 2017 led Junaid Islam led the multi-agency investigation of Iran's cyber attack on Saudi Arabia.  The findings from Junaid's ground breaking investigation were incorporated into many reports including the prestigious Foundation for Defense of Democracies.
