5G Innovation with Congressman Eric Swalwell, Deputy LA Mayor Jeanne Holm and David Roberts
Junaid Islam has developed numerous network protocols over the last 30 years and continues to innovate new ones. Most recently Junaid developed two new network protocols for NASA to enable interference aware RF optimization and policy-based routing over network slices. Both utilize edge processing combined with a cognitive control plane to add intelligence to existing and future satellite networks.
Junaid Islam is the inventor of Software Defined Perimeter (SDP) which was the first network-based Zero Trust Architecture. His architectural framework has been incorporated into NIST 800-207 ZTA recommendations which have become the baseline for 5G security for mission critial networks. Junaid is continuing to develop Zero Trust for software applications.
Junaid Islam founded Bivio Networks, maker of the first gigabyte speed general purpose networking device in history, and Vidder, a pioneer in the concept of Software Defined Networking. Vidder was acquired by Verizon to provide Zero Trust capability for their 5G network. Currently Junaid is helping organizations as diverse as the Indiana 5G Zone to leading edge start ups develop solutions for emerging Smart Energy and Transportation systems.
